Q: What on earth is a CSV file?
A: A CSV file stands for Comma Separated Values and it is simply a spreadsheet with your data (contacts) in it. You can use a CSV file to upload your contacts to Jott. If you have never used a CSV file before, we recommend trying to import just a handful of contacts first, to make sure they show up in your Jott account the way you want them to (first and last name, email address, cell phone number). Click here to learn how to export your contacts to a CSV file from Outlook.
If you plan to use a CSV file to import your contacts from Gmail, make sure to select the option "Outlook's CSV format (for importing into Outlook or other applications)".

A: Sometimes Jott emails end up in your spam or junk folder, so it's always good to ask your contacts to check there if they haven't already. If you send a Jott message to a work email address, have your contact check with their ISP (internet service provider). Sometimes companies will filter out mail from senders they do not know before they can reach an inbox.

Q: Jott says my caller ID is wrong, what do I do?
A: If you are calling from Canada, please refer to the information listed here.
Calling from within the U.S.? If you are sure your caller ID is not being blocked, it's possible your mobile provider does not want to pass on the correct caller ID information to a toll free number. In this case, give our alternate number, 347-523-8843 a try. Still having trouble after that? Contact your phone provider and let them know they are not sending the right caller ID information to us.

Q: When I Jott someone, do they get my voice, or the text translation?
A: Both! We transcribe your message into text and send it to your contacts, but we also send an audio link, or play back number to your contacts. This way if a message is unclear, they can listen to your voice, or if you want to send your friend a birthday card, you can actually sing Happy Birthday to them!

Q: I am from Canada, why can't I Jott myself when I call 1-866-JOTT-123?
A: Jott requires caller ID to know who is sending a Jott to what contact information. In an effort to protect your privacy, most Canadian mobile providers have blocked caller ID information from being passed to toll free numbers. This leaves the alternative of using local access numbers across the country, so that everyone can send Jott messages without having to pay long distance fees.
Below is the list of available Jott numbers in Canada. Find the number in your area code and program it to your speed dial today!

Q: I am concerned about giving Jott my Google login information. How can I be sure it is safe?
A: Jott never actually gathers your login information. Google uses something called Authentication Tokens. What this means is that you tell Google that you are OK with Jott accessing your Calendar. You never give Jott your Google username or password. You only allow Jott to access to your account to make changes. You can, at any time, go to your Google account and change it to "deny" access.

Q: Why do reminders show up 15 minutes before the time I set them for?
A: Much like an email client on your computer (Outlook, for instance) reminds you of a meeting on your calendar, we figured to actually remind you of something, it would be better to know a little in advance of a meeting or event, than at the time it actually started. In the future, reminders will be customizable, for those of you who would rather not receive them 15 minutes prior to the time you set them for.
