Text Messaging While Driving Banned

June 14, 2007

Texting It’s official, starting 2008 in Washington state you will now pay a $101 ticket if caught with your hands on your cell phone.
For some of us though, the drive time is the best time to be productive on our phones. What to do? The solution is simple:

  1. Get an earpiece or bluetooth headset for your phone.
  2. Use Jott so you can still text message - hands free!

Jott automagically turns your voice into a text, so you don’t have to stare at your phone keys while driving and trying to text message at the same time. And if you don’t have a headset or earpiece, you may want to Jott yourself to remember to pick one up.

  1. That sign is a Photoshop joke, right? Or are you sponsoring some of the signs in the state? (And kudos to you if you are.)

  2. Okay - so if you want to send your Jott by text instead of email, can you do that without being in front of the computer?

  3. I can’t believe the selfishness of the respondents on this topic. What is more important? Business continuity or someone’s life? When I was in the USA a year ago, I was terrified by the number of SUV’s being driven at speed while the driver was talking on a mobile phone.

Here in the UK there have been a number of deaths recently which were directly attributed to mobile phone usage while driving, so much so that the government is introducing significant penal sentencesif you cause a death while driving and doing anything which diverts your attention from the road, be it texting, talking (even hands free), changing a CD or eating.

Americans - time to get real!
