Surprises

September 21, 2007

Even as a founder of Jott, it always takes a couple of days for me to bake new features into my life, and our recent release is no exception.

The initial Jott experience was profound for me.  Surprisingly, it was not so much because the giant, galactic idea was never forgotten, but really because lots of little, not-life-or-death-but-still-key stuff didn’t drift by as easily.    Like doing something unexpected for my wife, kids or myself.

The two most surprising things for me about this last Jott release have been Reminders, and that gem of a JottLink for Zillow.com.

We’ve always had the functionality for setting reminders in Jott, but we stripped it out of the voice user experience because we felt it risked the simplicity of Jott to Self.  So now we’ve actually done a purpose built jott called Reminder, and it’s taken off.   It’s jott simple, but very powerful:  safe, intuitive and rich input, with robust delivery to email and text.  It’s the nag jott, except it’s me doing the nagging…and that’s OK.

I am lucky to live in beautiful Seattle, and 15 years after getting here, I’m still coming upon the occasional cool house I’d never noticed before (or it hadn’t  been for sale before), and want to know what the bubble has done to it.   Pull over, jott to Zillow, say an address, and that itch is scratched right then and there…when I have it.  Zillow’s birdseye views are cool, but a truly live Zestimate is amazing.

  1. It would be nice if the “forgot your password ” option worked. Actually, I don’t think I forgot my password but, when I attempted to use your option to replace/change the password (because my password didn’t work) it suppose to respond by sending you a e-mail telling your password has been reset. I’m still waiting for the resent password e-mail to arrive. As a result I can’t login to my account. Jott is also difficult to contact. Sending you this e-mail is testament to the difficulty. This is the second e-mail I’m sending to see if anyone at Jott is alive and kicking enough to reset my password….send me an e-mail.
