Jott for Outlook meets the iPhone App
October 30, 2008

If you have an iPhone and a premium Jott account, then this trick is for you…
You can add Outlooks tasks and create draft emails from your iPhone app!
Here’s what to do…
1) If you haven’t already, download the Jott for Outlook add-in.
2) You’ll see three lists appear on your Jott account, and on your iPhone app: Outlook Calendar, Outlook Tasks, Outlook Email Drafts.
3) From your iPhone app, open the Outlook list you’d like to add something to.
4) Tap the record screen and say your message.
5) Once the iPhone app syncs with your account, and your account syncs with your Outlook, the tasks and/or email drafts you created will appear in your Outlook.

Any chance for a Jott app for Android?

That’s an interesting question. We’ve had great success with our BlackBerry and iPhone apps, so we’ve been looking at the Android platform as well. We’re excited about the possibilities, but for right now we’re not planning to announce anything specific.

Just a suggestion for your iPhone app (which is wonderful). Could you make use of the “badge” notification that would show you how many ToDo items you have (or number of priority ones, etc)? A number of the “ToDo” applications for the iPhone have this functionality and it would be a nice enhancement to Jott.

What about a Jott app for the “iPod Touch”? I would buy the premium app if you made this available. Can’t you just modify the existing app for other devices? I really think you’re missing the boat on this unless you are already working on it.

It’s a good suggestion and something we’ve been thinking about. Thanks for letting us know that’s something you’d be interested in seeing.

I would also like to suggest an Android app, please! Love your service. What a great idea.

I third the Android app. I was looking at trying to develop one myself, but apparently the Jott API is limited to links.

Do you have plans to support Android?

I have read about the iphone app. Seems great and better than just a mobile weblink via browser to jott…. Especially with the outlook interface. I am constantly struggling with the best way to keep my TODO List updated and in one place.
I love Jott, and through Jott, I have now gotten hooked into Toodledo, but I still like to view my TASK list on my Windows Smartphone with Hotlinks directly with my work Outlook Tasks.
So, my question is based on this blog entry using the iphone APP, which appears to tie into Outlook,
IS THERE A JOTT SMARTPHONE APP that runs on Windows Mobile 6?

Since Jott for Outlook already “syncs” with Outlook tasks, why not allow Jott to sync *all* tasks with Outlook. Basically, allow it to be a task manager like Toodledo, RTM, or others.
I’m trying to avoid this workaround to make my “future” iPhone sync tasks with Outlook:
Outlook -> Toodledosync (Chromatic Dragon) -> Toodledo
Since I would use Jott to add items using Jott for Outlook, I’d rather just be able to manage my tasks on the iPhone through Jott and add them through Jott. Can’t wait to get an iPhone…

I love(d) the iPhone Jott app. What is happening? Links to it in the iTunes app store are dead. Please, tell us about the great plans for this product, and don’t disappoint us and give us an obituary!

Where did the iphone app go?

As a new registered Pro user I am looking for the IPhone App to be re-released soon I hope. I’m already tired of hearing how great it is. I also hope for sorting lists by due date. It seems more organized to see what’s due next at the top of the lists.

Can you tell us the plans for the Jott app on iPhone? How will new users access this app - or is it now “blackberry” only?

It’s been a few days since anyone’s asked… What happened to Jott in the App Store. This is one of the greatest apps for the iPhone and I was checking in to see if what I recall as a promised upgrade had been listed under a different name.
(I would love to hear something happened as a result of app store politics, something to push me over the jailbreak cliff.)

Here’s hoping the new iPhone app provides a way to view & check-off Outlook tasks on the iPhone. I’ve been using the iPhone app as a general task/list manager, but wish there were a way to sync all those tasks to Outlook. The current functionality seems to be one-way only (Jott recording -> Jott Outlook Tasks list -> New item in Outlook).
